Oahu, the Gathering Place, the original vacation destination within the islands offers a little town as well as country for those guests seeking sophistication as well as solitude. Sign up for surf lessons at Waikiki Beach followed by lunch at Duke's, take a road trip to the North Shore, grab lunch at Kua' aina Sandwich Shop, the line is long but the Mahi Mahi Burger is to die for, and head to the beach for a little R & R, on the trip back pick up a lilikoi & guava shave ice at Matsumoto in Haleiwa, on a rainy day or after you have gotten to sunburn for the beach head out to Iolani Palace, the Bishop Museum or Pearl Harbor and dive into some of the most interesting history in the USA followed by a jaunt through Ala Moana Shopping Center, visit the Ali'i Luau of all luau's at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie a beautiful one hour drive from Honolulu, looking for some nightlife head down to Chinatown where you will find hip galleries, stellar restaurants and a colorful, classy shops.
